My house in the town
Built by my grandfather Where life is simple And my heart is at peace Filled with life With my family in the islands The sound of laughter Running through the halls Sometimes a baby cries Sometimes an aunt yells But never for a long time Because together we are happy and nothing can change... My house in the town Built by my grandfather Where life is simple And my heart is at peace I attended 14 years of school Very far from the town On the other side of the world In a state, Pennsylvania I came to know many friends Whom I will never forget But very far from my grandparents I could only think about... My house in the town Built by my grandfather Where life is simple And my heart is at peace The smell of the country at dawn I remember The view from my room when the sun would rise I would watch the river rush through the back yard I would listen to the sound of the dragonfly The chickens running in the yard across the street While the jasmine blooms with its smell so sweet I would walk through the rice fields, a vibrant green And I know that no place exists thats so beautiful as... My house in the town Built by my grandfather Where life is simple And my heart is at peace But in the 14 years that I was not there My grandfather became sick And my grandmother fell to the conquistador, Cancer. Therefore I lost Two people who I love And in my chest in my soul began a pain And I learned that in this world you have to struggle And right then I understood that something was going to change... My house in the town Built by my grandfather Where life is simple And my heart is at peace Therefore I returned with anger God had left me A house without my grandparents Now the laughter is an eco And the anger opened my eyes To the things of the world that are not right I see all the injustices And I only want to change them Now my heart does not rest The view is full of poverty There is no peace when there is suffering A people forgotten by their government Every summer I travel to my islands so beautiful And every time I arrive, I also cry Who would have thought that in this islands so beautiful There would be children without shelter, without food; Women in factories working with their daughters While fathers lose themselves to gambling And the whole time the politicians drink beers And every time I leave, I also cry. Now my heart does not rest The view is full of poverty There is no peace when there is suffering A people forgotten by their government The president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo I pray to God she does not know what she is doing She dines with politicians and they talk about their rein But she does not know how many today have no food With her corrupt friends changing the results Of any election, and it does not occur to them The misery of every town When she keeps every peso. Now my heart does not rest The view is full of poverty There is no peace when there is suffering A people forgotten by their government The children awake at 4 in the morning They wake to a landfill in which they live Only to know the smell of the garbage they burn And they rush through the garbage to escape the sun All of the children running to find metal Later they sell what they find The future is struggling in order to see tomorrow While the government has no shame Now my heart does not rest I will never rest in peace until the injustices no longer exist The view is filled with poverty We only need hope There is no peace when there is suffering But do not worry we will change that A people forgotten by their government But I will never forget... My house in the town Built by my grandfather Where life is simple And my heart is at peace One day we will wake up at dawn The sun will rise above the vibrant green ricefields We will all enjoy the smell of the jasmine Laughter will run through the halls of all the houses And once more, together, we will be happy Little by little, I promise, my islands Filipinas, that life will get better One more time, we will own not only the governemnt, but also our futures. |
